NEW MATERIAL:Clostridium sp. No. 307 which is a slightly bent bacillus belonging to Clostridium genus, capable of proliferating with CO2 and H2, devoid of methanol assimilation and gelatin liquefying capability, exhibiting positive nature in indole production test, and having flagellum. USE:A bacterial strain capable of producing acetic acid from CO2 and H2. PREPARATION:The soil collected from the Hiraito Field, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan, is added to a liquid medium in an aerobic glove box, and cultured without agitation in an aseptic gas atmosphere containing H2 and CO2 at 30 deg.C.
