PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head which does not pick up an unerased part at a reproducing time even if the unerased part remains at a rerecording time, by providing an erasing main magnetic pole, whose transmission efficiency of a magnetic flux from a magnetic recording medium to a coil winding magnetic pole is lower than that of a recording and reproducing main magnetic pole, in a side part of the recording and reproducing main magnetic pole. CONSTITUTION:At a recording time, a large current is flowed to a coil 14 to magnetize a recording and reproducing main magnetic pole 10 as well as erasing main magnetic poles 11 and 11' in the strong magnetic field generated by a coil winding magnetic pole 12. A space (d) consisting of a nonmagnetic material 13 exists between erasing main magnetic poles 11 and 11' and the coil winding magnetic pole 12. Therefore, a reproducing voltage which a weak reproducing magnetic field generated by medium magnetization induces in the coil 14 through the coil winding magnetic pole 12 is reduced considerably in comparison with a reproducing voltage from the recording and reproducing main magnetic pole 10 for which the space (d) does not exist. That is, only a required reproducing signal R4 is reproduced normally, and the other signals are subjected to some attenuation and are reproduced. |
