PURPOSE:To obtain high-quality images free of wavy lines and luminance nonuniformity by installing a cathode-wire-stetching shaft with which no friction is produced when the shaft is rubbed against cathode wires so as to prevent any tension variation between the cathode wires. CONSTITUTION:One end of a cathode-wire-stretching shaft 10 is connected to a supporter 8 in a manner which allows smooth rotation and the other end is connected to the supporter 8 through a torsion spring 11 in a manner which allows free rotation. After cathode wires 1 are fixed to the shaft 10, the cathode wires 1 are fixed to a fixation frame 9 while applying a tension of about 10g to the cathode wires 1 so that they don't bend. After that, the supporter-side end of the torsion spring 11 is fixed to the supporter 8 after being rotated until an initial tension of about 30g is applied to the cathode wires 1. As a result, any variation in the characteristic frequency of the cathode wires 1 is prevented. Accordingly, it is possible to make the characteristic frequency of the cathode wires 1 different from an integer multiple of the pulse frequency by slightly changing the temperature by controlling the heat current, thereby preventing any resonance. |
