PURPOSE:To obtain a permanent magnet material with energy higher than that of usual same family permanent magnets by adding Ge, Al, Si and Mg to a magnetic alloy consisting of Co, Fe, Mn and more than one kind of rare earth metal including Y and Sc. COMPOSITION:To a magnetic alloy consisting of Co, Fe, Mn and a mixture which is represented by the formulae and includes more than one kind of rare earth metal including Y and Sc, Ge, Al, Si and Mg are added and a permanent magnet material is obtained. This type of permanent magnet material includes, for example, Sm(Co0.61Mn0.12Al0.02Fe0.23)8.2. To make magnets of this permanent magnet material, an ingot of said alloy composition is melted in Ar gas by high frequency heating and is casted into moulds. Next, after crushing these formed objects into powder of about 5mum, the powder material is moulded and sinterd into magnets. Or, magnets are formed from the mixture of 65-90% of said alloy powder and the remainder of bonding agent(for example, epoxy resin). |
