PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of an evacuation tube and to improve the quality and the productivity, by forming a vacuum envelope within a vacuum device. CONSTITUTION:A front glass 1 and a rear glass 5 each of which is printed with low-melting glass on the sealing face are registered with each other and fixed with fixing jigs 12 such as combination clips or the like. The glasses 1 and 5 are then set within a vacuum device 12. The vacuum device is evacuated with a vacuum pump and, at the same time, the front glass 1 and the rear glass 5 are heated to discharges gas therefrom and subjected to cold cathode decomposition. After the degree of vacuum reaches about 10<-5>torr, a discharge gas such as He or Ne is injected into the vacuum device. The front and rear glasses 1 and 5 are heated to melt the low-melting glass 10 whereby the glasses 1 and 5 are bonded and sealed to each other. Thus a plasma display panel is completed. |
