PURPOSE:To obtain images free of wavy lines and luminance nonuniformity by using a lubricated rod having V-shaped grooves to support a cathode wire. CONSTITUTION:Between a cathode wire 1 and a lubricated rod 8 which is fixed to a supporter 10 through a frit 11, V-shaped grooves are formed which consist of a spring-side slant 12 of about 15 deg. and a center-side slant 13 of about 10 deg. so that the cathode wire 1 touches the lubricated rod 8 at one point. Additionally, the R dimension of the top end of the V-shaped grooves is adjusted to be about two times the diameter of the cathode wire 1, so that the positioning between the cathode wire 1 and the lubricated rod 8 is accurately performed while bringing these members into contact with each other at one point. As a result, the static friction between the cathode wire 1 and the lubricated rod 8 becomes 1g or less and the tension variation of the cathode wire 1 is widely reduced. Accordingly, it is possible to make the characteristic frequency of the whole cathode wire 1 different from an integer multiple of the pulse frequency, thereby preventing any resonance. |
