PURPOSE:To record and reproduce well various information such as picture information, etc. without increasing crosstalk and spacing loss by providing erasing gaps and recording and reproducing gaps of a composite head, which is controlled by an erasing and recording/reproducing control means, apart from each other in the lengthwise direction of recording tracks as one body. CONSTITUTION:In a composite head 2, the first recording and reproducing gap R/W-1 and erasing gap E1 adapted to the first track, for example T1 are provided apart from each other in the track lengthwise direction, and the second recording and reproducing gap R/W-2 and erasing gap E2 adapted to the second track, for example, T2 are provided apart from each other in the track lengthwise direction also. With respect to the composite head 2, the part of a recording and reproducing head 2A for two tracks in the left of a line Y-Y' and the part of an erasing head 2B for two tracks in the right of the line Y-Y' are provided independently of each other, and these parts are joined into one body with a crosstalk preventing magnetic shield member 2C between them and are fixed to a head attaching base 2D, thereby obtaining the composite head 2. |
