PURPOSE:To attain application of both sides A and B of a magnetic tape and also to perform the record/reproduction of a multi-track, by providing a guard panel having assured dust-proof effects and assured working. CONSTITUTION:For a cassette 1, a rectangular opening part 3 is formed at the front of a cassette case 2 containing upper and lower half cases. At the same time, a guard panel 4 which closes the part 3 is attached so that it is opened with swinging in the upper and lower directions of the cassette 1. A record/reproduction head, an erasion head, a pinch roller, etc. of a recording/reproducing device are put into the part 3. When the cassette 1 is put into a cassette inserting part, the cassette 1 is moved up. The panel 4 is opened toward the upper side of the cassette by an opening means as the cassette 1 is moved down. The panel 4 can be opened up and down symmetrically when the position of a rotary support shaft 8 is changed to the front side of the cassette. At the same time, the cassette 1 is formed symmetrically as a whole on its upper and rear sides. Thus both sides of the cassette can be used for suited application to record/reproduction of a multi-track.
