PURPOSE:To attain re-recording immediately after reproduction by erasing a picture of one field to a magnetic head when a duplicate recording command signal is given and recording other picture for one field. CONSTITUTION:When a duplicate recording command switch 31 is turned off, erasure gaps E1, E2 are active alternately and the erasure is attained for each field. Then recording/reproduction gaps R/W-1, R/W-2 are made alternately active and video images IA, IB are recorded by frame for each field period. When an operation command switch 29 is turned on with the switch 31 turned on, only the erasure by the erasure gap E2 is conducted and the recording on the 2nd track T2 is attained by a recording/reproducing gap R/W-2. Thus, the recording is conducted again instantly.
