PURPOSE:To carry out the positioning of centering, etc. of a grinding wheel accurately and easily by axially moving an operating rod having a conical part on the bottom end, spreading an outer cylinder having slits in the axial direction and fixedly attaching a centering rod to a valve guide. CONSTITUTION:The lower part of the outer cylinder part 8 of a centering rod 6 is formed into a conical face 8b having inner periphery which widens toward end, and three closed slits 8a are provided on the lower part. When the centering rod 6 is inserted in a guide 3, positioning is made by means of a stopper 9 in such a way that the conical part 7a of an operating rod 7 comes to the central part, in the axial direction, of the guide 3, the rod 7 is tightened upward in the elevating direction by rotating a hexagonal head part 7c, the conical inner peripheral surface 8b of the outer cylinder 8 is pressed by the conical part 7a, and the outer cylinder 8 is spread in the radial direction. As a result, the centering rod 7 is closely attached and fixed to the center part of the guide 3, in which wear is less, and securely centered. Due to the rotation of a ring member 10 fitted over the centering rod 6, a grinding wheel ring 11 rotates around the centering rod to carry out rapid grinding.
