PURPOSE:To detect defects present in a cylindrical insulating body, by inserting a flexible electrode into the insulating body and installing a close adhering electrode to the outside of the insulating body, and then, impressing a high voltage across the insulating body in the direction of thickness. CONSTITUTION:An external electrode 21 made of conductive rubber in the form of a hollow doughnut is put on the outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical insulating body 11 and a pressing ring 23 is fitted to the outer peripheral section of the electrode 21 over the whole circumference. Moreover, an internal electrode 14 made of conductive rubber in the form of a tapered cylinder is installed to the inner peripheral surface of the electrode 21. Detection of defects present in the cylindrical insulating body 11 is performed in such a way that the outer peripheral surface of the internal electrode 14 is brought into close contact with the inner peripheral surface of the insulating body 11 by injecting air with pressure into an enclosed space R2 and the external electrode 21 is brought into close contact with the outer peripheral surface of the insulating body 11 by enclosing air in the hollow section of the electrode 21, and then, a high voltage is applied across the electrodes 21 and 14 after the supporting frame body 3 of the insulating body 3 is put in an enclosed container and SF6 gas is enclosed in the container 1. |
