PURPOSE:To attain high recording density and to obtain high recording and reproduction efficiency by making only the tip of a main magnetic pole in a recording medium facing surface thinner than the rear core, and selecting the length of the thin part properly. CONSTITUTION:A coil 13 is made of Al by vapor deposition, the main magnetic pole 11 has the thin part 15 made of sputtered Fe-Si-Ru alloy near a recording medium surface and a thick core part 16 of Fe-Si-Ru alloy and vapor-deposited NiFe alloy. In this case, the thin part 15 is formed to length (d) and recording and reproducing characteristics are checked by using a composite recording medium 2 formed by laminating a high-magnetic-permeability layer 2 of Co-Mo- Zr amorphous alloy on a base 21 and then forming a Co-Cr vertical magnetism layer 23 thereupon by sputtering. In this case, the recording and reproduction output of the head decreases as the (d) is too large and the (d) should be <=10mum; recording density D50 decreases when the (d) is too small and the (d) should be >=0.2mum. |
