PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head with a high-precision gap by forming such a magnetic gap surface that the running surface of a recording medium is parallel to a substrate surface. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic substrate 6 is made of MnZn ferrite and an insulating layer 7-1 is formed by sputtering SiO2; and a conductive layer 5 made of Al is vapor-deposited and then patterned and another insulating layer 7-2 is formed of SiO2 and then patterned. Then, the 1st magnetic layer 2 of ''Permalloy'' is formed by sputtering and machined with a diamond blade to form a magnetic gap formation surface 2-a consisting of two surfaces. A nonmagnetic layer 3 of SiO2 is formed as a magnetic gap, and further the 2nd magnetic layer 4 of ''Permalloy'' is formed by sputtering and then patterned. The surface of the magnetic substrate 6 is polished in parallel to obtain the stable, precise magnetic gap. |
