PURPOSE:To produce an Al sheet for a welded can having excellent weldability by using an Al sheet which is controlled in the content of Mg to a specific value or below or a material clad with an Al sheet having the strength higher than the strength of said Al sheet as a blank material for can making. CONSTITUTION:An Al sheet which is controlled in the content of Mg to <=0.30 wt% is used as a blank material for an Al can in the stage of producing said can as a vessel by deep drawing and electric resistance welding. Since the content of Mg is decreased, the oxide of Mg is hardly produced and the contact between the base metals with each other is improved. Easy welding is thus executed without overheated melting in electric resistance welding even if an electrode having a flat tip is used. Since the Al plate contains Mg at a smaller rate and has consequently lower strength and easy tendency to deformation, the Al sheet for the welded can having excellent strength and weldability is obtd. by using the thin sheet of such Al sheet as a facing material and cladding the same on an Al sheet which has high strength and is used previously for an ordinary can material as a core material.
