PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity, image sharpness, graininess, etc. by incorporating a combination of a compd. releasing a fogging agent or a development accelerator at the time of development and a compd. releasing a development inhibitor at that time in a photographic layer. CONSTITUTION:Photographic layers including at least one photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer are formed on a support. An intended silver halide photosensitive material is obtained by incorporating in the photographic layers a compd., such as formula I or II capable of reacting with the oxidized product of a developing agent, and releasing a fogging agent, a development accelerator, or their precursors, and a compd., such as formula III or IV, capable of reacting with said oxidized product and releasing a development inhibitor or its precursor in an amt. of the former of 1X10<-9>-1X10<-1>, and in an amt. of the latter of 1X10<-6>-1X10<-2> per mol of silver halide, respectively. |
