Casings peeled from cooked frankfurters are transported to a disposal site using a vacuum source. A conduit has a first end at the vacuum source and a second end near to the station where the casings are peeled from the frankfurters. The vacuum source pulls the casings through the conduit. A diverter is positioned above a station where the castings are finally to be deposited. The diverter blocks the conduit for the casings. It includes first and second portions for sequential alignment with the conduit. Pref. the diverter comprises a disc which is apertured to allow the vacuum to extend through it but to prevent the passage of the casings. The disc is rotatable across the path followed by the casings. The appts. is used to convey discarded casings from cooked frankfurters to a remote disposal station. The use of the appts. replaces a process which involves several handling stages for the discarded casings.
|
