PURPOSE:To obtain the titled laser glass having oscillatory wavelength which is safe for the eyes, with a long fluorescent life, a large inductive emission cross- sectional area, and a small temp. coefficient of a refractive index, and consequently capable of oscillating repeatedly at high speed by providing the laser glass with a specified composition. CONSTITUTION:The laser glass is composed of 55-75%, by mole, P2O5, 3-10% Al2O3, 10-20% K2O+Na2O+Li2O, 0-15% BaO+SrO+CaO+MgO, 0.01-0.5% Er2O3, 5-9% Yb2O3, 0-0.5% Nd2O3, 0-0.15 Cr2O3, 0-3% CeO2, and 0.2-1% Nb2O3. The laser glass has an oscillatory wavelength in the vicinity of 1.5mum and is safe for the eyes, and also has a long fluorescent life, a large dielectric emission cross-sectional area, a small temp. coefficient of a refractive index. The laser glass can be repeatedly oscillated at high speed.
