A process for producing energy comprises, sending a working gas e.g. helium at high temp. to a closed cycle turbins system; cooling the working gas leaving the turbine at low pressure, to below ambient temp. by exchange of heat with a liquefied cryogenic liq. in condition allowing the cryogenic liq. to be gasified; compressing and heating the working gas and recycling it to the turbine. Process incorporates heating of the compressed working gas by indirect heat exchange with hot synthesis gas produced by partial oxidation of a carbonaceous substance or a hydrocarbon. The process operating in closed cycle according to the Brayton cycle, gives typically 50% more energy than a system using water cooling and producing steam.
|
