The toothbrush comprises a plastics body with a handle and a head to which the plastics bristles are secured direct by adhesion. This can be achieved by first locally heating part of one side of the brush head until it melts when it is then brought into contact the ends of the plastics fibres which form the bristles. When set the bristles can be cut to the required length. Since the bristles are no longer embedded in holes in the brush head the process is considerably cheaper and is thus especially suitable for disposable toothbrushes intended for a single use.
