NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R is lower alkyl or (lower alkoxysubstituted) phenyl]. EXAMPLE:Benzyloxyacetaldehyde-2-pyridylhydrazone. USE:A coupler for diazonium salt. It gives a diazo copying material having high developability. An image free from highlight-stain and having excellent light resistance can be obtained. PREPARATION:2-Pyridylhydrazine of formula II is made to react with the cyclohexylformaldehyde of formula III (R<1> is H, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy) in a solvent (preferably lower alcohol, etc.) at 20-30 deg.C.
