FORMATION OF FRP COUPLER BY RESIN INJECTION

PURPOSE:To obtain FRP couplers having lesser dispersion of quality and performance by a method in which glass fibers are wound around the outside of a thermoplastic resin coupler, the coupler is put in molds, and a thermosetting resin raw material is injected into the molds to impregnate the raw material into the glass fibers. CONSTITUTION:A half-finished coupler 3 formed by winding glass fibers around the outside of a thermoplastic resin coupler by injection molding is set in the cavity 6 of molds 5. A thermosetting resin is cast through an inlet 7 into the cavity 6. The inlet 7 is closed with a stopper 9, and the molds are allowed to stand for several minutes in the state of being clamped. After the thermosetting resin impregnated into the glass fibers of the half-finished coupler 3 is hardened, and the FRP coupler is taken out of the mods 5.
