The safety dog lead is a dog lead which simplifies use and increases the safety of the dog walker. The conventional releasing of the lead by bending down to the animal and opening the snap link is eliminated. If the dog is walking on the lead, a bolt which is under spring pressure closes a receiving device which is attached to the dog's collar. The bolt can be retracted by finger tension exerted via a cable from the hand loop, so that the animal (dog) is immediately free. The safety of the dog walker is substantially increased by this simple and rapid releasing of the dog.
