PURPOSE:To obtain an optical element which is transparent and is highly resistant to water and weather by using a resin compsn. consisting essentially of a transparent polymer contg. a metal and fluorine. CONSTITUTION:A group contg. F is used for the R2 of a copolymer having the repeated unit expressed by the formula (R1 is H or CH3, M is the metallic atom of Pb, Ba, La, Sn, etc., (n) is valency, R2 is a satd. or unsatd. group) or a fluorinated monomer such as fluorinated (meth) acrylate, substd. fluorostyrene or the like is copolymerized with the repeated unit having no F, by which the transparent polymer contg. 0.001-20wt% F by the total weight of the transparent polymer, 25-50wt% the metallic element by the total weight of the tansparent polymer and >=80% light transmittivity (in accordance with ASTM-1003) is manufactured. An optical element such as an optical fiber, optical waveguide, lens or the like having the high resistance to water and weather is obtd. by using such polymer. |
