PURPOSE:To improve input/output coupling efficiency of a titled device, and also to manufacture said device with good reproducibility by constituting it by using an output use condensing grating coupler and an optical deflector. CONSTITUTION:An optical waveguide 2 is formed on a substrate 1, and input and output use condensing grating couplers 11, 12 and a comb-shaped electrode 5 being an optical deflector are formed on the waveguide 2 or the substrate 1. The light emitted from an input port 6 is coupled with a coupler 11 and a parallel waveguide light 8 is excited, and the waveguide light 8 is deflected by an acoustic optical effect due to a surface acoustic wave 9 excited by the electrode 5 and emitted by the coupler 12. This emitted light 13 can be condensed at an optional position, and coupled with an output port 7 provided on this condensing position. Accordingly, the light can be led to a desired output port by varying the frequency of a high frequency to be applied to the electrode 5. |
