<p>The motor (2) of the torpedo is supplied in a steady state with steam generated by the combustion of a fuel in an oxygen atmosphere in the absence of nitrogen. During a start-up phase the motor is supplied with steam generated by heating water. The water is heated in a container (12) until it reaches its saturation pressure, whereupon the container is opened by pyrotechnic means so that the vapour pressure can drive out the water for the purpose of its evaporation.</p> |
