Rotary potentiometer

A rotary potentiometer is proposed which has a moving contact (17) which moves on an annular resistor (23). The annular resistor (23) can rotate in steps, but only in one rotation direction. In consequence, the operating range in which the moving contact slides to and fro on the resistor (23) is no longer fixed on a small piece of the contact arc, but is distributed over the complete circumference of the annular resistor (23). The rotary potentiometer can preferably be used on motor vehicles in order to obtain a signal output from a moving rod to a receiver. <IMAGE>
