The application relates to a belt fastener for safety belts of motor vehicles, having a housing which receives the locking mechanism and has an actuating member serving for releasing the belt fastener, at least one further actuating member being arranged additionally on the housing for adjusting and switching functions which are independent of the belt fastener. In order to be able to use the same belt fastener in vehicles with and without additional functions and thus to simplify stock-keeping, provision is made according to the invention for a separate, second housing to be provided for the further actuating member, which second housing can be fitted via a holding element onto the housing of the belt fastener and can be engaged therewith or with an attachment part which bears said belt fastener.
