PURPOSE:To provide an aq. pigment dispersion which is excellent in easy dispersibility and dispersion stability, consisting of a specified dispersant, a pigment and an aq. medium. CONSTITUTION:3-98pts.wt. fatty acid-modified (meth)acrylic monomer having a fatty acid content of 5-60wt%, 2-97pts.wt. alpha,beta-ethylenically unsaturated nitrogen-contg. monomer such as 2-vinylpyridine, 0.5-40pts.wt. carboxyl group-contg. (meth)acrylate such as 2-carboxyethyl (meth)acrylate and 0-91pts.wt. other alpha,beta- ethylenically unsaturated monomer such as methyl acrylate are copolymerized in the presence of a polymn. catalyst at 0-180 deg.C in an inert solvent. The resulting copolymer is neutralized to obtain a water-solubilized copolymer which is then used as a dispersant. 1-500pts.wt. said dispersant is blended with 100pts.wt. pigment. The mixture is dispersed in an aq. medium.
