MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having improved recording density and reproduced output by mixing magnetic powder which is of the same kind as magnetic powder composed of a needle crystal of gamma-Fe2O3 and has the grain size smaller than said powder to improve the mixing rate of the magnetic powder. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic powder 7 composed of a needle crystal of gamma-Fe2O3 and fine particles 8 which is of the same kind as said magnetic powder and has 0.1-0.2mu grain size are mixed so that the magnetic powder to be contained just at 20-30wt% into a magnetic powder 1 with the needle crystal powder alone is contained at 30-45wt% therein. The powder 8 is thus interposed among the particles of the needle crystal powder 7, by which a decrease in the half-amplitude level W of a reproduced output waveform 5, an increase in reproduced output P and a decrease in the width of a magnetization inversion layer 4 are attained and high-density recording is made possible. The magnetic recording medium having excellent mechanical strength and coating type is thus obtd.
