PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a solvent for acetyl cellulose, etc. safely, selectively in high yield, by oxidizing propylene with oxygen by the use of a specific complex catalyst under mild conditions, simplifying preparation processes including purification process. CONSTITUTION:By the use of a complex catalyst comprising a complex shown by the formula I (M is transition metal belonging to group I , group IV-VII, or iron group of group VIII of periodic table; L is organic phosphorous compound; m and n are figure fixed by valence of transition metal and valence of anion; l is figure of coordination) capable of being subjected to coordination bond, with O2, forming an oxygen complex, and a complex shown by the formula II (M' is transition metal belonging to platinum group of group VIII of periodic table; L' is nitrile, organic fluorine compound, L; m', n', and l' are m, n, and l) capable of being subjected to coordination bond with propylene, forming a propylene complex, activated propylene is oxidized with bonded oxygen activated by complex formation at low temperature close to room temperature at normal pressure, to give acetone. |
