PURPOSE:To obtain an aromatic ketone from an acid anhydride and an aromatic compound by a simple operation, to recover a catalyst completely, and to recycle and to use the catalyst, by reacting the acid anhydride with HF previously, to form an acylating agent, reacting the aromatic compound with the acylating agent in the presence of HF, etc. CONSTITUTION:An acid anhydride shown by the formula I (R is 1-12C alkyl, aryl) such as acetic anhydride is previously reacted with HF to form acyl fluoride shown by the formula II, the acylfuoride shown by the formula II isolated from it is used as an acylating agent. An aromatic compound such as beta-methylnaphthalene, toluene, etc. is reacted with the acylating agent in the presence of HF or HF and BF3 catalyst at 0-50 deg.C in case of HF alone or at -20-30 deg.C in case of both use of HF and BF3 at normal pressure - 2kg/cm<2>G, to give the desired compound. Operation of catalyst removal is carried out as rapidly as possible, and prevention of change in quality of the reaction product is required, and circulation operation using multistage vapor-liquid device (distillation column) is preferable. |
