PURPOSE:To enhance the use efficiency of a disk device by reporting displacement from an index point to a rotation position, where a read error occurs, as read error position information to a host device to skip tracks having flaws. CONSTITUTION:When a host processor 6 instructs format write to the disk device, a counting means 7 is initialized after an index signal (c) is detected. After the signal (c) is detected, the processor 6 reads read error position information (j) and writes read error position information j1 and rotation position information d1 on the basis of the rotation position at a write time and writes information in information recording areas A and B. Thereafter, when the processor 6 instructs read of information in the area B, read is started from read error position information j2, and the next rotation position information d2 is stored in a storage means 9, and information in the area B is read out. At this time, the occurrence of error is reported to the processor 6 by a discriminating means 1, and it is discriminated by a discriminating means 2 whether error can be corrected or not; and if error can be corrected a read error displacement (f) is calculated by a calculating means 3, and error position information (j) is outputted from a means 10 on the basis of the displacement (f) and rotation position information (g) and is reported to the processor 6. |
