HEARTH ROLL HAVING SUPERIOR BUILD-UP RESISTANCE

PURPOSE:To obtain a hearth roll having superior build-up resistance by adhering a material having superior build-up resistance such as ceramics to the surface of the base material of a roll with an intermediate material in-between. CONSTITUTION:A material having superior build-up resistance such as ceramics is adhered to the surface of the base material of a roll such as the metallic shaft with an intermediate material in-between. Ceramic fiber of SiC, Al2O3 or the like havig a coefft. of thermal expansion between that of the material having superior build-up resistance and that of the metallic shaft, strength and elasticity enough to absorb shearing force produced on the adhered surfaces is used as the intermediate material. An inorg. adhesive such as sodium silicate is used as an adhesive.
