PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive ferromagnetic alloy having superior magnetic characteristics and useful as a material for a permanent magnet by providing a specified composition consisting of Nd, Pr, Dy, Ho, Tb, B and Fe. CONSTITUTION:This ferromagnetic alloy consists of 8-30atom% at least one among Nd, Pr, Dy, Ho and Tb combined optionally with one or more among La, Ce, Sm, Gd, Er and Y, 2-28atom% B and the balance Fe with impurities. The alloy does not contain an expensive substance such as Co and contains light rare earth elements as ample resources. The alloy has satisfactory magnetic characteristics at room temp. or above and can be formed into an arbitrary shape of practical dimensions. When the alloy is used, a magnetically anisotropic sintered permanent magnet having high residual magnetization, high coercive force and a high energy product can be obtd. |
