PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent magnetic recording medium without using a radiation irradiating device by dispersing fine ferromagnetic particles into a binder contg. a specific radiation-sensitive soft resin or the prepolymer, etc. thereof, adding a polyhydric isocyanate compd. thereto and curing the mixture composed thereof by crosslinking. CONSTITUTION:A soft resin formed by introducing radiation sensitive unsatd. bonds such as acrylic double bonds, maleic double bonds, allyl double bonds, etc. into a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate/vinyl alcohol copolymer, satd. polyester resin, etc. or the mixture of the prepolymer, oligomer or telomer thereof and either of a thermoplastic resin having no radiation-sensitive double bonds or the modified resin which has the above-described radiation sensitive double bonds and is not soft is mixed as a binder with ferromagnetic powder and thereafter polyhydric isocyanate is added to prepare a magnetic coating. Such coating is coated on a substrate surface and is then cured by heating without using radiation irradiation. The magnetic recording medium having excellent runnability, electromagnetic conversion characteristic, durability, etc. is thus obtd.
