PURPOSE:To increase a recording speed and to reduce the capacity of a power source for driving a thermal head by dividing black information corresponding to heating body blocks of the thermal head, and minimizing the number of combinations of blocks of heating bodies. CONSTITUTION:When recording information (black information 1) is inputted to an input terminal 1, a sampling clock is inputted to an input terminal 2 synchronously with the information; and a counter 3 counts up every time the sampling clock is inputted and a counter 4 counts up every time black information is inputted. Then, a decoder circuit 5 when detecting a numeral 256 sets 1 in a register 7 and the contents of the counter 4 are set in a register 6 to store the state. Then, a muCPU part 8 reads the contents of the register 6 and stores RAM10 with a table which indicates the number of pieces of black information in every block of one-line information. Once this table is generated, the muCPU part 8 refers to the table and regards each block as a minimum unit to determine the order of recording.
