PURPOSE:The gasification of solid carbonaceous substances such as coal or coke is conducted utilizing a melted metal bath such as an iron bath to prevent the walls of the reaction vessel from being damaged by high-temperature radiant heat, convection of high-temperature product gas and flying of melted metal. CONSTITUTION:The coolant is fed to the cooling panel 3 which constitutes at least a part of the inner wall of gasification reactor 1 and has a plurality of nozzle 5 for jetting the coolant on its wall and simultaneously a part of the coolant is jetted into the reactor to cool the panel. Simultaneously, a non-dipping type lance is revolved by device 13 and moved vertically by unit 14 to make the deposition on the inner wall of the gasifier 1 as uniform as possible.
