<p>A remote-control assembly is provided herein for controlling a crane or the like having a movable boon or the like, in which the crane includes an electrical control circuit for controlling the movable boon or the like, the assembly thus serving to insulate the operator of the remote-con-trol assembly from electric shock. The remote-control assembly includes a remote-control box having a plurality of fluid valves, a converter box including a plurality of fluid valves and means for operating the fluid valves and a converter to box including a plurality of pressure switches. The pressure switches each include a movable member having at least one electrical ocontact mounted thereon, each of the pressure switches being formed by a separate housing for enclosing the movable member and the electrical contact. A plurality of fluid lines connecting the fluid valves to operate the movable members in each of the pressure switches; and a plurality of electrical lines connecting the electrical contacts of the pressure switches to the electrical control circuit on the crane for operating the movable boom or the like. Advantageously, an arrangement is thus provided which substantially eliminates the possibility of the operator of the remotecontrol box receiving an electrical shock when the boom strikes a highvoltage line. As will be understood, if a boom strikes a high-voltage line, the electricity will discharge through the chassis of the crane and the electrical control circuits and the electric lines between the plug and the converter box. However, the electricity will not discharge through the pressure switches, or the plastic tubing, or the remote-control box connected to the plastic tubing. In this manner, the operator of the remote control box is insulated from such an electric shock.</p> |
