Cephalosporin derivatives represented by formula (I), (wherein R<1> represents a hydrogen atom or a protective group, R<2> represents a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic group, R<3> represents a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a cyano group, a carboxy group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, a carbomoyl group, a carbanolyloxy group, a heterocyclic ring, a hydroxy group, an alkoxy group or a halogen atom, R<4> and R<5> may be the same or different and each represents hydrogen or alkyl, I represents, 0, 1 or 2, m and n each represents 1 or 2 when I is O, or represents O when I is 1 or 2, and X represents methylene when I is O or 1 or represents methylene, substituted methylene or oxo when I is 2, provided that X does not represent methylene when R<3>, R<4>, and R<5> all represent hydrogen), salts or esters thereof have strong antibacterial activity, and are useful for treatment and prevention of various bacteria induced diseases.
