PURPOSE:To obtain a uniformly doped n type polyacetylene, by heating polyacetylene in the presence of a specific dopant in a hydrocarbon based solvent. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of (A) a primary or secondary amine of the formula (R<1> and R<2> and H or <=20C alkyl or allyl, etc.), e.g. n-butylamine, with (B) a metal amide, e.g. lithium amide, as a dopant is added first to a hydrocarbon based solvent, e.g. benzene, and (C) polyacetylene, preferably cis isomer in the form of a film is added to the resultant solution. The mixture thus obtained is heated to take out the polyacetylene, and the stuck dopant is usually washed and removed to give the aimed polymer. The aboved-mentioned heating is preferably carried out at 80-150 deg.C for 2-10hr by the method of refuxing under heating. |
