PURPOSE:To ensure the connection between an optical fiber and optical connector, by inserting the core of the optical fiber exposed by removing the seath and clad layer in steps at the end part of the fiber into an uneven section installed to the inner peripheral surface of a ferrule after coating the core with regenerated clad and drying the connected section. CONSTITUTION:An uneven section 12 is installed to the inner peripheral surface of the front end part of the ferrule 10 of an optical connector. On the other hand, the core 7 of an optical fiber 1 is exposed by removing the seath 4 and clad layer 6 of the fiber 1 in steps for prescribed lengths. The length of the exposed core 7 is equal to the length of the uneven section 12. The optical fiber 1 is inserted into the ferrule after the core 7 is coated with fluid regenerated clad 6', so that its strand section can be fitted to the strand inserting hole 11 and the optical fiber 1 is fitted to the large-diameter section 13. Then a bonding agent is injected to the space formed inside the large-diameter section 13. After the optical fiber 1 is inserted, the ferrule is heated to harden the regenerated clad 6' so that the ferrule 10 and strand section 3 can be bonded strongly to each other. Therefore, movement of the strand in the axial direction is prevented and a stable characteristic can be maintained for a long period. |
