On surface treatment drums of the type, which turn around a horizontal axle when in operation with its contents moved in turn and in order between a number of treatment stations, each drum is equipped with a lid (11), which is foldable from a closed to an open position and vice versa around a hinged joint (12) whose axel line is parallel with the drum's rotational axle line. The lid (10) has a locking device at its free edge (14) for locking it in either the closed or open position, lying along the drum wall. The lid (11) with its locking device is designed to be swung between a closed and open position and vice versa with a the locking device intervening as well as a manoeuvring mechanism (19, 20, 23-27) in each treatment station, so that emptying and filling can occur automatically.<IMAGE> |
