PURPOSE:To form a full-color, high-resolution image with gradation and hue variation through fast processing by making the sticking amount distribution of toner particles of each color different according to the potential distribution of an electrostatic latent image. CONSTITUTION:Parts of the electrostatic latent image with relatively low potentials A-V are developed in yellow by a leading liquid toner developing device 24a up to a saturated state, so toner particles of black stick on none of them in a liquid toner developing device 24d for black. A part D of the electrostatic latent image with the highest potential D is not saturated, so toner particles of black stick on charges remaining at the part in the liquid toner developing device 24d. When the excessive liquid toner is removed with a squeeze nozzle 32d, an image of yellow is completed having four light to dark yellow gradations corresponding to the potential distributions A-D of the electrostatic latent image. |
