PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrene of a unexpected shock due to a rapid change in a car height, by a method wherein, through control of a switching valve in response to a car height regulation signal, a main accumulator and an auxiliary accumulator are forcibly intercommunicated. CONSTITUTION:A hydrounit 4 between a car body 1 and a suspension member 2 is formed with a strat 9 comprising a cylinder 5 rod 6 and a piston 7. A spring constant varying device 50, located in an intermediate position between the unit 4 and a switching valve 14 for car height regulation, consists of a main accumulator 12, is brought into a communicating and a non-communicating condition by means of switching valve 13 for spring constant regulation to set a spring constant selectively in a 2-stage. When it is expected that car height regulation takes place, the main and ausiliary accumulators 11 and 12 are forcibly intercommunicated before actual car height regulation takes place, and this prevents production of a pressure difference by which an unexpected shock is caused. |
