PURPOSE:To provide the titled device with various functions other than signal recording by forming a spot larger than a non-modulated recording spot in addition to a recording beam. CONSTITUTION:Beams projected from a semiconductor laser 1 and a white light source 4 are synthesized by a beam synthesizer 7 through collimater lenses 2, 5 respectively and polarized by a polarizer 8 and respective light source images are formed on a recording medium 10 by a writing lens 9. A white light source image 12 is larther than a laser light source image 13 and the shape of the former image can be formed as an optional shape by an opening 14. The beam from the laser 1 is modulated by a recording signal to record the signal. The beam from the white light source 4 is non-modulated light. When a heat mode recording body is used as the recording medium 10, the temperature is increased by the non-modulated beam prior to the recording beam, so that the sensitivity of the recording medium 10 is improved and the output of the recording beam can be reduced. |
