PURPOSE:To take out an uniform electron beam from a linear cathode by forming the back face electrode for emitting the electron beam forward while holding the linear cathode with a resistor and stripe electrodes crossing perpendicularly with the linear cathode. CONSTITUTION:A planar display device is formed with a back face electrode 31, a linear cathode 35, an electron beam take-out electrode 36 and vertical deflection electrode, horizontal focus electrode, other control electrode group and light emission means. Here, the back face electrode 31 is formed by depositing In2O3 film uniformly onto the surface of a glass substrate as a resistor film 32 while providing the stripe electrodes 34 crossing perpendicularly with the cathode 35 on the resistor film 32. Then proper voltage is applied respectively onto the lead electrode 33 of the resistor film 32 and the stripe electrode 34. Consequently, the potential distribution in the longitudinal direction under operation of the linear cathode 35 is corrected to produce uniform electron beam thus to improve the display quality. |
