The apparatus concerns the car accessory industry and measures the open circuit voltage V0 of the accumulator, which is displayed as a percentage on a panel 5. This information is stored and combined, in a processing unit, with a voltage measured during discharge after the open circuit voltage has been measured. The resultant information supplied by the processing unit is sent to a second display panel 9 which indicates the overall result of the two successive tests.
