The invention, a pneumatic member incorporated in a wheel giving rise to a self-stabilising effect, constitutes an active suspension stage. On the section passing through the axis of rotation of a vehicle wheel: the air chambers 22 are inset between the concave grooves 29 made on the outer rim 21, on the inner rim 25, and on the hoops 24. The circular arm 27, being part of the outer rim, slides in the inner rim and allows the device to have vertical flexibility without drifting. Two particular applications of the device: in the case of trains, when the traditional and passive suspension stages are no longer suitable for the ever increasing speeds and when a technique of independent wheels is desirable; in the case of motor vehicles, when it is sought to increase the vertical flexibility of the tyres without accentuating the risks of puncture and drifting. <IMAGE>
