PURPOSE:To enable a suction port to be arranged at a proper position which is most appropriate to a cooking unit to be used and to improve an efficiency of discharging of gas by a method wherein an extendable or retractable discharging cylinder extending up to near the cooking unit of a range is arranged at the discharging duct facing at the interior passing through a vertical wall rear the range and communicating the interior with the outdoor of the kitchen. CONSTITUTION:When an exhausting device for a kitchen is stopped, the discharging cylinder 2 is pushed into the discharging duct 3 and stored in it and is not hindered for the working in the kitchen. In case of performing a cooking operation, at first the discharging cylinder 2 is pulled out of the kitchen in response to the position of the cooking unit to be used, and the suction port is positioned near the cooling unit. Then, when the turbo-type fan 9 is operated, the smoke generated by a cooking or boiling or the like is smoothly sucked from the discharging cylinder 2 and then blown out downwardly at exterior of the kitchen through the discharging duct 3.
