PURPOSE:To improve the overall efficiency of the manufacture of the titled deriv. by a known method by recycling a tin compound produced as a by-product when the titled deriv. is manufactured by reacting diallyl tin dihalide with ketone or aldehyde. CONSTITUTION:Ketone or aldehyde represented by general formula II is converted into homoallyl alcohol represented by a general formula IIIa and/or IIIb. A quadrivalent tin compound produced as a by-product during the conversion reaction is optionally taken out of the reaction system, and it is converted into a bivalent tin compound or metallic tin by electrolytic reduction. This product is reacted with allyl halide represented by general formula IV, and the resulting diallyl tin dihalide represented by general formula I is reacted with said carbonyl compound represented by the general formula II as a starting material. Thus, the tin compound as a reactive agent is recycled. By this method the overall efficiency of the manufacture of a homoallyl alcohol deriv. is improved.
